Anti-Counterfeiting for Polymer Banknotes Based on Polymer Substrate Fingerprinting

چکیده

Polymer banknotes are the trend for printed currency and have been adopted by more than fifty countries worldwide. However, over past years, quantity of polymer counterfeits has increasing, so quality counterfeits. This shows that initial advantage bringing a new technology to fight against counterfeiting is reducing. To maintain one step ahead counterfeiters, we propose novel anti-counterfeiting technique called Substrate Fingerprinting (PSF). Our built based on observation opacity coating, critical during production notes, stochastic manufacturing process, leaving uneven thickness in coating layer random dispersion impurities from ink. The imperfections result translucent patterns when banknote back-lit light source. We show these can be reliably captured commodity negative-film scanner processed into compact fingerprint uniquely identify each banknote. Using an extensive dataset 6,200 sample images collected 340 UK banknotes, our method authenticate robust rough daily handling banknotes. Furthermore, extracted fingerprints contain around 900 bits entropy, which makes it extremely scalable every note circulated globally. As compared with previous or existing mechanisms distinctive advantage: ensures even extreme case counterfeiters procured same printing equipment ink as used legitimate government, remains infeasible because difficulty replicate process.

Liposome and polymer-based nanomaterials for vaccine applications

Nanoparticles (NPs) are effective and safe adjuvants for antigen delivery in modern vaccinology. Biodegradable nanomaterials with suitable properties are frequently applied for conjugation or loading with antigens; they protect the antigens from degradation in vivo. NPs are applied as effective delivery system to facilitate antigen uptake by antigen presenting cells (APCs) and especially dendri...

Metastable polymer substrate for transient electronics

Transient electronics are designed to operate for programmed life times and then degrade leaving little to no trace behind. The initial work on transient electronics has been focused on biomedical applications in which the electronics are implanted, but eventually degrade and resorb into the body after the treatment is complete [1]. Biomedical transient electronics typically use a water soluble...

Visualisation of latent fingermarks on polymer banknotes using copper vacuum metal deposition: A preliminary study.

The UK's recent move to polymer banknotes has seen some of the currently used fingermark enhancement techniques for currency potentially become redundant, due to the surface characteristics of the polymer substrates. Possessing a non-porous surface with some semi-porous properties, alternate processes are required for polymer banknotes. This preliminary investigation explored the recovery of fi...

RFID-Tags for Anti-counterfeiting

RFID-tags are becoming very popular tools for identification of products. As they have a small microchip on board, they offer functionality that can be used for security purposes. This chip functionality makes it possible to verify the authenticity of a product and hence to detect and prevent counterfeiting. In order to be successful for these security purposes too, RFID-tags have to be resista...
